Simon's practice focuses on commercial dispute resolution and professional liability. He served as the firm's Senior Partner and Chair of its Global Management Board between 2016 and 2019, having previously headed up its insurance practice.
Ernie Van Der Vyver
Ernie has experience in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, formation, structuring and restructuring of business entities and the drafting of commercial agreements and general corporate advice to clients in the financial services market.
Liz is a highly experienced projects lawyer with a strong reputation in major construction, PPP/PFI and social infrastructure projects. Qualified both in the UK and Hong Kong, Liz has worked on major infrastructure projects internationally, including transport projects such as Hong Kong Airport, the M1/M15 Motorway in eastern Europe and the London Underground privatisation.
Neil specialises in complex insurance claims with a particular emphasis on disputes involving property, liability and financial lines. Neil’s practice has a strong international flavour. He has particular experience of litigating in Colombia where for several years he has represented London market reinsurers in the defence of very large class actions arising from the collapse of the domestic lending system in 1999.
James is the head of the Financial Institutions and D&O team and the cross-departmental financial services regulatory team. James' practice focuses on all aspects of D&O and financial services and has extensive experience in acting for directors and officers and financial institutions on contentious matters in a number of jurisdictions. Much of this has involved arbitration and cross-border work with an international connection.
Avryl has a broad practice covering both the insurance and trade and commodities sectors. She advises clients in relation to transactions, regulatory issues and disputes. Avryl regularly advises clients on corporate governance and regulatory issues in the context of ASIC, APRA and ACCC investigations and in respect of claims made under directors and officers’ liability insurance policies.
Dean has over 25 years of legal experience. He initially gained his insurance and reinsurance experience in London, working on a range of London insurance market related matters. He now focuses on providing advice on strategic projects and major disputes in the Asia Pacific region. He is also a member of the firm's Global Management Board.
Michael Tooma is the Managing Partner of Clyde & Co Australia. Michael is internationally recognised as one of the pre-eminent health and safety lawyers in the region. Michael's practice covers specialist safety related regulatory regimes, particularly occupational health and safety, security and anti-terrorism, product safety, aviation safety, rail safety, construction safety, food safety, maritime safety, road safety and chain of responsibility.
